Cookies and analytics
Your choices, browser storage and third-party resources.
Reviewed 26 October 2026
Choose or change your preference
Use the persistent Cookie preferences button on every page. Accept analytics permits optional Google Analytics and campaign attribution. Decline analytics leaves those off. You can use the website and submit an enquiry without accepting analytics. On withdrawal, this site disables measurement, clears its attribution and accessible Google analytics cookies and analytics session context, then reloads if the tag was already loaded. Earlier information already received by a provider is not automatically erased by clearing a browser cookie. You can contact SolaFi about that information.
No production Google Analytics tag is loaded on localhost or Netlify preview domains. Advertising storage, ad user data and ad personalisation consent remain denied. The website does not enable Google Signals or ad personalisation. Netlify’s injected performance measurement script is blocked by the site’s content-security policy.
Necessary storage
- sf_consent_v1: SolaFi localStorage records your analytics choice and expiry, for 180 days. After expiry you are asked again. Browser clearing removes it earlier.
- sf_attempt_[form name]: SolaFi sessionStorage holds a random enquiry reference and submission status to manage retries and duplicate submission attempts. Application validity is 24 hours, subject to the browser session ending earlier. No entered contact details are saved in this item.
Session storage can be restored by some browsers when reopening tabs; the application expiry checks still apply. Expired local/session records may remain physically present until overwritten or cleared, but are not treated as valid after their expiry.
Functional icon storage
Pages using Iconify 1.0.7 store icon artwork in localStorage keys iconify0, iconify1, … and cache metadata in iconify-count and iconify-version. Metadata also appears in sessionStorage. This cache supports icon display and contains icon definitions rather than a visitor tracking identifier. The library checks artwork against a 168-hour (7-day) age limit when initialising; local entries can remain until a subsequent cleanup or browser clearing. Metadata has no separate fixed expiry. This functional cache is independent of analytics consent. Icon requests go to api.iconify.design (the library also configures api.simplesvg.com and api.unisvg.com as fallbacks).
Optional analytics and attribution storage
- _ga and _ga_F6CZFWJRXM: Google Analytics first-party cookies identify a browser and maintain measurement/session state. This release configures a maximum cookie lifetime of 180 days without extending it on page visits; browser restrictions or deletion can shorten it. These identifiers are pseudonymous, not anonymous.
- sf_attribution_v1: SolaFi first-party cookie containing first and most recent campaign information, permitted click identifiers, entry page, referring domain and timestamps. Expires 90 days after the first recorded touch, without renewal on later visits.
- sf_ev_journey: consented sessionStorage indicating recent calculator use, valid for 30 minutes after the latest saved interaction.
- sf_ev_cta: consented sessionStorage carries a calculator call-to-action event across navigation, valid for 60 seconds and consumed once.
- sf_pending_lead: consented sessionStorage receipt created only after a successful form receiver acknowledgement. Valid for 60 seconds and consumed on the matching confirmation page.
- sf_counted_[reference]: consented sessionStorage prevents counting that acknowledged enquiry again during the browser session.
- sf_debug_session: a session-only diagnostic flag used during authorised measurement checks, not set by ordinary visitor navigation.
Google Analytics measures pages, devices, interaction events and campaigns. The GA4 property was observed on 26 October 2026 with event-data retention set to 2 months and user-data retention set to 14 months, with reset on new user activity enabled. These settings are separate from browser cookie lifetimes and do not apply to most aggregated standard reports. With permission, campaign information and a Google client identifier can also accompany your form submission to Netlify. Refusing optional analytics does not remove the operational enquiry source or random submission reference.
External resources and browser caching
Relevant pages request fonts from Google Fonts, styling from Tailwind’s CDN, icons/scripts from jsDelivr/Iconify and unpkg, images from Supabase and Unsplash, YouTube thumbnails, maps from CARTO and OpenFreeMap. Providers receive the network information needed to deliver these files before optional analytics is accepted. Files can be kept in the browser’s ordinary HTTP cache according to response headers; cache lifetimes vary by resource. These requests are not governed by the Google Analytics switch. Clicking external social, video or partner links opens services governed by their own privacy and cookie controls. No marketing or advertising pixel is configured in this release.
